New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) A 22-year-old hotel management student was held here for raping five-year-old girl living in his neighbourhood, police said Sunday.
"Lalit was arrested for raping a minor girl Saturday evening in Kapashera area in west Delhi," said a senior police officer.
Police said the victim was playing outside her residence in Kapashera Friday when the accused lured her to an isolated area and near his house and raped her.
Leaving her injured, Lalit then threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone. The traumatised victim returned to her residence and told the family members about the incident.
The family members then approached police and narrated the whole incident. A medical examination proved rape.
"Following the complaint of the victim's parents and the medical report, we have arrested the accused," said an officer.
Police said the accused is pursuing a hotel management course from a private institute in Delhi.
