Chandigarh, March 8 (IANS) A court here Friday convicted an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who was arrested with 12 kg heroin in January 2009 in Mumbai.
Saji Mohan, a 1995 cadre IPS officer, was convicted for pilfering seized contraband.
Saji, a former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director in Chandigarh, was accused of pilfering contraband, seized from various places in Punjab and Jammu, with the help of his junior colleague Balwinder Singh during his tenure in the city.
Saji and Balwinder were booked by Chandigarh police in 2009. The quantum of sentence would be pronounced Monday.
Saji has been booked in another corruption case by Chandigarh police for embezzling Rs.13.81 lakh.
