Ironman champ urges Armstrong to dump triathlon dreams

London, Thu, 07 Mar 2013 ANI

London, Mar 7 (ANI): Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong has been urged to abandon his plans for making a triathlon comeback by Ironman World Championship leader Chrissie Wellington.

Wellington, who had retired undefeated after 13 straight successes over the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run distance, believes that Armstrong will taint the sport in which Britain has been highly successful over the last five years, the Sun reports.

Expressing her anger at Armstrong and the other athletes who have confessed to doping for their perpetual lies, deceit and manipulation, Wellington said that Armstrong's participation in the sport will undermine its fragile credibility.

Stating that Armstrong was very casual about the entire scenario, Wellington further said that the sport does not need people like Armstrong pulling the strings, abdicating much responsibility and avoiding crucial questions. (ANI)
