Ranchi, Feb 26 (IANS) People of Jharkhand are disappointed with the railway budget as no new trains were given to the state, former chief minister Arjun Munda said Tuesday.
Hopes were high in the state which is under president's rule. People were expecting new trains and an increase in the frequencies of the existing trains in the budget presented Tuesday by Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.
The budget proposal only increased the frequency of Ranchi-New Delhi Garib Rath Express from two to three days in a week.
"This is a disappointing railway budget for Jharkhand. Jharkhand is neglected every time and the needs of the people of the state have been again overlooked," said Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arjun Munda.
"The mineral-rich Jharkhand provides highest revenue to the railway coffers. It is disappointing that its state capital Ranchi is yet to be connected with key cities of the country through the railway network," said Bharti Kashyap, director of Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital.
People of the state are also critical about hikes in Tatkal booking charges.
