New York, Feb 22 (ANI): Police rushed to the Playboy Mansion after they were alerted of an assault on Thursday but found no evidence of any crime.
Hugh Hefner was the latest target of prank callers and police aren't describing it as a full out "swatting" event, but more like a mild hoax.
An outside caller contacted police to report an assault inside the world-famous pleasure palace, and early reports likened the alleged prank call to a "swatting" incident.
Aerial footage from KTLA showed a group of six uniformed officers responding to Hefner's huge compound shortly after 7am.
Police later said the Playboy incident was less serious than the recent spate of hoax 911 calls that have reported armed intruders inside the homes of Ashton Kutcher, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise.
"There was no swatting call (at the Playboy Mansion). It was more like a prank call. Swatting is much more involved, leading us to send a SWAT team," LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told the New York Daily News on Thursday.
He said that someone called from a nearby care facility and put in some sort of false call about an assault.
Officers went to investigate and talked to people at the residence and found it was nothing.
They're investigating the source of the call now. (ANI)
