Mumbai, Feb 18 (IANS) British Prime Minister David Cameron Monday visited the 26/11 attack memorial here and paid tributes to the policemen and other people who lost their lives to terrorism.

Cameron laid a wreath at the memorial as a gesture of solidarity with family members of those killed during the 26/11 terrorist attack in the city. Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh and other officials accompanied Cameron during his visit.

A year after the November 2008 terrorist attacks on Mumbai, the Maharashtra government built a Shaheed Smarak (martyrs' memorial) at the Mumbai Police Gymkhana facing the Arabian Sea on the city's landmark Marine Drive. The memorial was installed to immortalise the 18 policemen, who were killed during the attack.

At a visit to a corporate house earlier Monday, Cameron said that both India and Britain have been facing the problem of terrorism alike and both countries should come together to fight the menace.

"We both face this extraordinary and difficult challenge of fighting terrorists and terrorism in our midst and I want us to meet that challenge together," he said.
