London, Feb 17 (ANI): Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has said he lives to play in great matches like their first-leg clash against Real Madrid in the pre-quarterfinals of the Champions League at Santiago Bernabeu.
United's 29-year-old top scorer stood tall in one of football's cathedrals and said this is why he joined the club, the Sun reports.
Van Persie said he loves games like that (United versus Madrid), adding huge games against the top teams when you don't know what's going to happen.
The Dutch striker added these are the games where it is a thin line between winning and losing, adding he loves the buzz, the excitement, the drama and he lives for that.
Van Persie added he just can't imagine that day when he stops playing and it's all over because he knows he would miss the buzz so much, adding he would miss the big nights like these.
Van Persie said this is one of the greatest games you can play in, Manchester United against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, and in three weeks we do it again at Old Trafford, which will also be special.
The talismanic forward added he knows the smaller games are important too because they're the games that make you champions, and when you are at United every game is big, adding those big matches like these are the icing on the cake.
Van Persie said games against Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League and against Madrid in the Champions League are amazing. (ANI)
