Dhaka, Feb. 17 (ANI): Twenty buses from India were inducted into the fleet of the transport network of Bangladesh on Sunday as part of the promised line of credit.

The formal handing over of these Ashok Leyland buses took place in the presence of External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina here.

Khurshid, who was arrived here on Saturday morning on a two-day official visit to Bangladesh, met Sheikh Hasina and apart from the buses, they had discussions on other relevant bilateral issues.

"I am really happy to know that twenty of the articulate buses have also arrived in Dhaka. Thirty more buses will be arriving very soon. And standard 88 air-conditioned buses are also in the process of procurement. I assure you this project will be in the schedule, which is by the April of this year," said Khurshid, while addressing a press conference with Hasina and Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Dipu Moni.

The fleet of 20 buses is a part of one billion dollars line of credit assured by India to Bangladesh, the largest single line of credit extended by New Delhi to any country.

India has already delivered 290 double-decker buses under the project to the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC). (ANI)
