New Delhi, Feb. 12 (ANI): Defence counsel for two of the five accused in the Delhi gangrape case, A. P. Singh said that the identification process of his clients was conducted without the presence of an advocate and it cannot be considered in the case.

Interacting with mediapersons after the hearing on Tuesday, Singh said when the Test Identification Parade (TIP) of all the accused was being conducted, no lawyer was prepared to take up their case and it is unethical.

"During the cross-examination we raised question on the process of TIP that happened without the presence of an advocate representing the accused. They don't know anything about the process because they don't have a criminal record. They are not headed criminals or professional criminals or else they would have known about the process," said Singh.

"It is very difficult to say how the case will end because a lot of evidence still needs to be presented, the key witness also needs to be cross examined," he added.

The six accused attacked the trainee physiotherapist and her friend on a bus as the couple returned home from watching a movie on December 16.

The woman was repeatedly raped and tortured before being thrown out of the running bus.

The woman died of internal injuries in a Singapore hospital two weeks later.

The trial of five men charged with the heinous crime opened on February 5 at a fast-track court here with closed-door testimony from her friend, who appeared in the court in a wheelchair, still bearing the scars of injuries from the attack.

The sixth accused is being tried separately as a juvenile. (ANI)
