New Delhi, Feb 11 (IANS) A chilly, foggy morning was followed by a warm and sunny afternoon in the capital Monday as the maximum temperature settled a notch above average at 23.9 degrees Celsius. The met office has forecast similar weather Tuesday.
"There will be light mist in the morning tomorrow (Tuesday), afternoon would be sunny and warm," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 24 and nine degrees Celsius, respectively, the IMD official added.
Monday morning was misty and the visibility at 8.30 a.m. was 400 metres. The minimum temperature was two notches below average at 8.5 degrees.
As a result, 13 trains were running late while 14 had to be cancelled due to fog in parts of north India, a statement by Indian Railways said. No flights were affected.
The humidity levels wavered between a high of 97 percent and a low of 40 percent.
The maximum temperature Sunday was 23.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above the average for this time of the year, while the minimum was three notches below average at 7.1 degrees Celsius.
