Srinagar, Feb 10 (IANS) The residents of Srinagar did not wake up to read the newspaper at leisure this Sunday. The city reeled under curfew for the second day, receiving no print editions of local newspapers.

"No local newspaper was published today, although web editions of many local newspapers are available on the Internet", a newspaper editor said.

Bashir Manzar, editor of Kashmir Images, a local English daily, told IANS that the print edition of Sunday's paper was seized by the police who disallowed its circulation.

Cable television and internet connectivity remained suspended in summer capital Srinagar, although no service provider agreed to go on record confirming this.

Broadband facility by the BSNL, however, remained functional at many places in the city and outside Sunday.

Cable television services were not interrupted in other towns of the Valley, where people said they were viewing news and other programmes.

Curbs are in place as the Valley has been tense, following the hanging, in secret, of Afzal Guru Saturday morning. Guru had been convicted and sentenced to death for conspiracy which led to the attack on parliament Dec 13, 2001.
