New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) One stop for all possible street food in Delhi -- visitors can savour "kulfi", "chaat", "chilla" and "kebabs" at the 'Dilli Ke Pakwaan Festival' (Festival of foods of Delhi).

The week-long festival is on at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, where emporia of different states line one side of the road.

Organised by Delhi government, the festival is a celebration of the capital's social and cultural diversity, showcased through street food. It will continue till Feb 14.

The sumptuous platter of delectable eatables from 'gullies' and 'nukkads' of the walled city comes from famous vendors like 'Tilak Raj di Kulfi', 'Chandni Chowk ka Chilla Bhandar' and 'Daulat ki Chaat'.

The annual festival offers Mughlai, Marwari and Punjabi fare.

"With over 10,000 visitors on the first day and more than 40 stalls picked up from Delhi, Old Delhi has been brought to New Delhi" said Sudhir Sobti of Delhi Tourism.

Apart from the culinary delights, the highlights of the festival are theme gates, such as Old Delhi railway station, Haveli Gate, Gate with floral decorations, a Banyan wishing tree with a pandit (priest) under it, old Delhi's Auto Cycle Rikshaw, a cotton candy seller and a puppet show.

"The festival concentrates on promoting Delhi Tourism with food being the strength of the city," Sobti said.
