New Delhi, Feb. 6 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for a rebranding of India globally, and said the nation needs skill, speed and scale for development.
Addressing students at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) here, Modi said the youth of the country have desire and strength, but because of a lack of skills, they can't progress.
"We are not less than anyone despite the colour of our skins. But, if we have to compete with China and become a global power in the 21st century, we will have to focus on skill development, we will have to enlarge our scale and fasten our speed," said Modi.
"21st century is a century of knowledge and therefore, I believe, it can be India's century. The world used to think this is country of snake charmers and black magic. But, our youth has changed the image of the nation globally in the last 20 years," he added.
Modi further stated that the governments or political parties must not treat the youth only as voters, but steps should be taken to train them to make the service sector strong.
Prior to his visit and during his speech in the prestigious college of Delhi University, Modi faced protests from Left wing students organisations like AISA (All India Student Association) and AISF (All India Students Federation), who opposed Modi, alleging him for Gujarat riots in 2002.
The students, who raised slogans of "Narendra Modi Go Back", were later baton charged by the police personnel, as Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 in the area. (ANI)
