London, Feb 4 (ANI): Rugby player Paul Wood, who lost a testicle after being kneed in the groin in a cup final, has revealed his battle with depression.
Warrington Wolves prop Wood was dubbed the world's toughest sportsman after he played for 20 minutes with a ruptured right testicle in October's Super League Grand Final, the Sun reports.
But the 15st star's world crumbled after he left his wife and two children for a fling with ex-porn model Holly Henderson, the paper added.
Wood said people see this giant man-mountain and think he is indestructible after what happened, but that couldn't be further from the truth, adding some mornings he couldn't get out of bed and just pulled the duvet over him sobbing like a baby.
Wood added he have been swamped with suicidal thoughts, adding as much as he played along with the jokes about being 'One ball Paul', privately he was in pieces.
Wood said talking openly about his depression is the toughest thing he has ever done, saying it's far more painful than losing his testicle, and he added that he has been seeing a psychiatrist, but until now he has only told a few close family and friends. (ANI)
