Sydney, Jan. 31 (ANI): Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong has repeated his call for a truth and reconciliation program in cycling, while claiming that he is the 'fall guy' for cycling.
Armstrong has revealed in an interview that he feels like a scapegoat for a sport which has seen generations of doping, and added that he feels neither remorse nor contrition after confessing about his doping, News.com.au reports.
Hitting out at the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), Armstrong said that publicly exposing a single person and his team will not solve the problem of doping, and that the best way to deal with the doping crisis in the sport is a truth and reconciliation process offering amnesty to riders and officials who come forward.
Armstrong also said that the truth and reconciliation process should be run by the World Anti-Doping Agency, instead of the USADA, as cycling is a global sport.
He insisted that international cycling body UCI, and its president, Pat McQuaid, should not be involved in the process.
Armstrong added that no generation in cycle was ever free from the taint of doping.
The USADA produced a detailed report on systematic doping by Armstrong and his team, which led him to be stripped of his seven Tour titles and banned from elite sport for life. (ANI)
