Four school students killed in road accident

Lucknow, Jan 29 (IANS) Five people, including four school students, were killed and over a dozen injured Tuesday in Amroha district when the bus they were travelling in collided with another bus.

The bus of Blue Bird Public school had a head-on collision with a speeding state transport bus.

Those killed included two girls, Vidhi and Urvi, and two boys, Shaurya and Manoj. Among the dead were three siblings. The school bus driver, Rahul, also died in the accident.

The injured were rushed to a nearby medical facility in Meerut. The roadways bus driver fled the scene. Police are trying to apprehend him.

All the deceased belonged to nearby villages, police said. Superintendent of Police Shakeel Ahmad said the students were aged between 10 and 17.

The incident occurred in Amroha district, 370 km from Lucknow.
