Kolkata, Jan 28 (IANS) Around 8 kg of material suspected to be used in making explosives was seized and a man detained in this connection at Sealdah railway station Monday, police said.
"We have seized from one person around 8 kg of material which we suspect was being brought to make explosives. The material has been sent for forensic tests. We can say something concrete about the haul only after forensic reports are received," Inspector General of Police (Railways) A.K. Sarkar said.
The material was seized from a man identified as Jalal Ali, found wandering suspiciously in the station premises. Police are interrogating him.
"We are looking into the purpose for which the material was brought," Sarkar said, adding that the possibility of a link to a terrorist group could not be ruled out.
