Kolkata, Jan 28 (IANS) Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) will play host to the season opening leg of the Hero Women's Professional Golf tour 2013.
The club will host the Rs.4 lakh championship Jan 29-31. The tour will be spread over 12 legs with a total prize purse of Rs.60 lakh.
The tournament will see the revival of the competition between veteran golfer Smriti Mehra and Vani Kapoor. Golf lovers from the city will be rooting for local girl Neha Tripathi.
Bangalore golfer Sharmila Nicollet will miss the first leg as she withdrew due to injury Sunday. Delhi golfer Nalini Singh Siwach bid farewell to professional golf due to personal reasons and will not be seen on the circuit this year onwards while the tour has a new addition in Bhavi Shah, from Kenya, who will be the rookie player.
Along with Smriti Mehra, Vani Kapoor and Neha Tripathi, other golfers who would be seen on field are Ankita Tiwana, Pallavi Jain, Priya Puri, Rani Sonti, Vandana Agarwal and Bhavi Shah.
