New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): BJP General Secretary Dharmendra Pradhan said on Friday that his party is ready to face any kind of consequence in Karnataka.
After assessing the political situation, Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj on Friday said he might ask chief minister Jagdish Shettar to prove his majority on the floor of the house.
Earlier 13 legislators, including two ministers, of the state ruled by the BJP, owing allegiance to former state chief B. S. Yeddyurappa, resigned as members of the assembly, plunging the provincial government into crisis.
Yeddyurappa met the governor and apprised him of the resignation. He is trying to rope in seven more BJP legislators to resign from the assembly along with the 13, who are waiting for the arrival of the speaker of the assembly so that can submit their resignation to them.
"We are ready to face any kind of consequence in Karnataka. Honourable chief minister of Karnataka is meeting now honourable governor and house is commencing from the 04th of February. We are ready to face any eventuality or any political challenge in front of us in Karnataka," said Pradhan.
India's Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari hoped that people would vote for provincial main opposition Congress Party in the upcoming elections.
"Elections are due in Karnataka within few months. We hope that when polls are held in Karnataka, the people of Karnataka will elect the Congress Party again for stable and honest government," said Tewari.
The BJP Government in Karnataka has plunged into crisis ahead of the Budget session, as two ministers C M Udasi and Shobha Karandlaje had resigned to join Yeddyurappa.
The BJP's strength in the assembly is 120, including the Speaker, an Independent and a nominated member.
Speaker K.G. Bopaiah is expected to return to Bangalore on Monday and Yeddyurappa wants that 20 MLAs should resign from their Assembly seats on that day and reduce the Shettar government in minority.
The Congress Party has 71 legislators and the regional Janata Dal (Secular) has 26 legislators in the Assembly. (ANI)
