Kohima, Jan 25 (ANI): The Zeliangrong Tribe of Nagaland recently celebrated "Gaan Nagai", 'a post-harvest festival', here with great enthusiasm.
The vibrant folk dances performed by the youth of Zeliangrong Tribe reflect their joy and happiness. A large number of visitors turned up for the cultural extravaganza.
"After hard work, people come with the significance of harvest and also we are signifies prosperity and wealth. This is also a festival of thanksgiving so all these has been combined and we express our joy through dance, songs and music," said Som Kamel, a resident.
The event was organized by the Rongmei Council, Dimapur.
"I am so happy that the state government has recognized our tribe. For so many years we are not recognizing but now we can enjoy like any other Naga tribe," said G Patrck, an organizer.
Such events not only highlight the vibrant colours of the region, but also play an important role in strengthening bonds between different tribes. (ANI)
