Kolkata, Jan 24 (IANS) Over 100 national and international writers and celebrities from various fields including Amitava Ghosh, Amish Tripathi and Sourav Ganguly will participate in the Kolkata Literary Meet (KLM) at the 37th International Kolkata Book Fair beginning here Jan 26.
The second edition of the KLM will see participation of authors from Pakistan, China, Australia, England and the US alongside speakers representing the home contingent, discussing topics as varied as history, sport, geopolitics and cinema.
The five-day KLM will be thrown open Jan 30 by authors Sirshendu Mukherjee and Ghosh.
Among major attractions of the meet is unveiling of Sharmila Tagore's new book on Tiger Pataudi, by former India captain Ganguly who would also discuss on "if cricketers have the time to put pen to paper".
Famous for his Shiva trilogy, Tripathi will talk about his latest offering "Oath of the Vayuputras". The first two books of the trilogy are "The Immortals of Meluha" and "The Secret of the Nagas".
The KLM for the first time this year will also have seminars in Hindi/Urdu including one on writer Saadat Hassan Manto. The panelists will include author Javed Akhtar and Pakistani writers Musharraf Ali Farooqi and Ali Sethi.
The other seminars include Booker winner Thomas Keneally and Vikas Swarup discussing the impact that Oscar-winning movies "Schindler's List" and "Slumdog Millionaire" had on their acclaimed novels.
The 37th Book Fair will be thrown open Jan 26 by eminent Bangladeshi academician Anisuzzaman and will continue till Feb 10.
