London, Jan. 20 (ANI): McLaren were left red-faced after celebrating Jenson Button's birthday by posting a picture of his former team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
The clanger, which was displayed on the team's official Facebook, wished Jenson Button a very 'Happy Birthday' from the team, accompanied with a picture of Hamilton at last year's Singapore Grand Prix, reports the Daily Mail.
Hamilton sported a one-off helmet design at last year's race in Singapore after ditching his traditional yellow lid. And it appears the change of design may have led to McLaren's faux pas.
But the mistake didn't go unnoticed by the British team's fans before the error was quickly rectified by McLaren with a shot of Button, who turned 33 on Saturday, replacing the picture of Hamilton.
Hamilton ended his 15-year association with McLaren at the end of last season after embarking on a controversial switch to Mercedes.
And the 2008 world champion faces a huge challenge to turn the Brackley-based team into championship contenders after they limped to a lowly fifth in the constructors' championship last term.
Button, who becomes the most experienced driver on the grid in 2013 following Michael Schumacher's retirement, will be joined at McLaren by Sergio Perez after the former Sauber driver was snapped up by the British constructor to replace Hamilton. (ANI)
