Beleagured Kingfisher Airlines gets no objection certificate from oil firms

New Delhi , Wed, 16 Jan 2013 ANI

New Delhi, Jan.16 (ANI): Oil companies have reportedly given some sort of a breather to beleaguered private carrier Kingfisher Airlines by issuing a no objection certificate, which means the airline may soon be able to resume operations of some of its aircraft.

Kingfisher Airlines, however, is yet to get no objection certificates from airports to fly again.

The airline has not been operating its aircraft since October 2012, as it is in debt to the tune of USD 2.5 billion.

It has to pay off banks, staff, vendors and others.

It had submitted a USD 119 million revival plan to aviation regulator - the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) last week, but the latter rejected the plan as insufficient to rescue the airline. (ANI)
