New Delhi, Jan.11 (ANI): The All India Tennis Association (AITA) picked a second-string squad on Friday for India's Davis Cup tie against South Korea, snubbing the eight revolting players who refused to make themselves available.
The tie will be held here on February 1-3.
The squad selected includes only one senior player in Leander Paes.
V M Ranjit (ranked 517), Vijayant Malik (ranked 542) and Purav Raja (ranked 155 in doubles) are the other members.
S.P. Misra will be the non-playing captain while Zeeshan Ali will be the coach.
Selection committee chairman Anil Dhupar announced the team at a packed press conference.
Senior AITA officials described the players' boycott as "unfair and unjustified".
They claimed that the disgruntled players were offered the best remuneration in the entire Asian region and gave the break-ups of some of the senior players' financial packages to back their claim. (ANI)
