Ranchi, Jan. 8 (ANI): Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) chief Pradip Balmuchu on Tuesday said that his party would decide the future course of action only after Shibu Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which has finally withdrawn support to the BJP-led Arjun Munda Government, comes forward with its proposal.
"We had made it clear in the very beginning that we will not stake the claim to form the government until Jharkhand Mukti Morcha withdraws it support to the BJP. Now, we are ready to hold talks in this regard as the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has finally pulled out of the BJP," said Balmuchu.
"We have 13 MLAs and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has 18 MLAs. Now, we are waiting for their proposal as they have the numbers by their side. So, once they put forward their proposal we will decide the future course of action after holding discussion with our leaders. There has been no initiative as of now. We are waiting for their proposal," he added.
Asserting that the JMM has been an old partner of the Congress and has also been helping the ruling government at the Centre, Balmuchu also made it clear that his outfit had no problem in joining hands with Shibu Soren's party.
Meanwhile, former Jharkhand speaker and Chatra MP Inder Singh Namdhari commenting on the latest political developments said Jharkhand's misfortune is not leaving it.
"I am seeing the present (political) circumstances and the bad luck of Jharkhand. Jharkhand's misfortune is not leaving it. So, at times I do think that the formation of Jharkhand did not take place at the auspicious time (November 15, 2000)," he said.
Arjun Munda, who resigned as the chief minister earlier in the day, recommended dissolution of the 82-member Assembly leaving the situation wide open for Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed to decide the future course of action.
"Dissolution of the state ministerial panel and my resignation letter, I have just submitted both documents to the honourable Governor. The state ministerial panel decided that the state wants a fresh election and a steady government and to achieve the new mandate we must again go to the people and secondly, to achieve the motive of a steady government, this is the only way," he told the media.
The latest development in this regard came after the JMM withdrew its supoort to the BJP-led Arjun Munda Government. Relations between the BJP and JMM came under strain since the chief minister rejected that there was an agreement between the two parties on rotation of power after 28 months in office.
JMM, however, insisted there had been an agreement to share power.
The BJP and JMM have 18 members each in the 82-member Jharkhand assembly. The Congress has a total of 13 members. (ANI)
