New Delhi, Jan. 7 (ANI): Janata Dal- United (JD-U) chef Sharad Yadav on Monday criticized Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat over his remarks about women and the marriage system, saying that such statements shows their mindset.
While talking to reporters here, Yadav said: "Several statements are being made these days. The statements show their thinking and views. All these are shallow statements."
"Only formal debates are taking place regarding the physical need of the people in India. There is no substantial outcome of these articles and debates that are taking place on the issue. There are two ways to tackle it. Firstly, an attempt should be made to bring about change in the system. Secondly, there should be debate on how to bring about change in the near future," he Yadav.
He had created a controversy by reportedly stating that the Khap Panchayats are doing a fine job in protecting their women by giving out diktats against their public conducts.
Yadav's statement came at a time when religious and political leaders are making controversial statements, creating massive outrage among the women and human rights activists.
Earlier today, Asaram Bapu has landed himself in a controversy over his remark that the December 16 Delhi gang rape victim is as guilty as those responsible for the barbaric sexual assault on her.
The self-proclaimed godman further said that he is against harsher punishments for the accused as the law could be misutilised.
Such statements are coming at a time when the entire nation is mourning the death of the 23-year-old brave heart, who died in a Singapore hospital 13 days later after the heinous crime. (ANI)
