Shimla, Jan 5 (IANS) The state-run Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (HPTDC) Saturday announced a special discount for woman guests in its hotels across state.
An additional discount of 10 percent on accommodation over and above the prevailing off-season discount, ranging from 20 to 30 percent depending upon the property, will be offered to the women, HPTDC managing director Subhasish Panda told IANS.
He said the special discount, valid till March 30, could be availed by any woman or women with minor children staying as guests in 58 HPTDC hotel units.
Panda said directives have been issued to take special care of the women staying in the HPTDC units or travelling in its transport facilities.
The annual tourist arrival in Himachal Pradesh crossed 1.5 crore (15 million) in 2011.
The number of foreign tourists visiting the state has more than doubled from a little over 200,000 in 2005 to nearly half a million in 2011.
