BCB to send delegation to Lahore to ensure Pak players' participation in BPL

Islamabad, Fri, 04 Jan 2013 ANI

Islamabad, Jan 4(ANI): The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is expected to send a delegation, headed by its president, Nazmul Hassan, to Lahore in order to ensure the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) allows its players to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), beginning January 18.

The delegation is believed to arrive in Lahore after Pakistan team completes the one-day international series against India, the Nation reports.

According to a well-placed source, indications are that the BCB want to reassure the PCB that they want to send their team to Pakistan but didn't get government clearance for the same due to security concerns.

The source further said that the BCB delegation would meet with PCB chairman, Zaka Ashraf and try to convince him that their commitment to tour Pakistan was still on track.

Another source added that the BCB is clearly concerned about the issue of whether the PCB will allow its players to play in the BPL as the dates clash with Pakistan's premier domestic competition Quaid-e-Trophy.

So far the PCB, except for a vague statement, has maintained a silence on the whole issue and sources said a final decision on issuing NOC's to players for the BPL will be taken after Ashraf returns home on Monday. (ANI)
