London, Jan 3(ANI): Former Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Rafael van der Vaart and his model wife Sylvie have split up after a New Year's Eve argument came to blows.
The midfielder, 29, who now plays for German side Hamburg, said it was very foolish of him, and called himself an idiot, the Daily Star reports.
The Dutch ace the also apologised, adding that this incident should have never happened.
Both Van der Vaart and his wife decided to live apart despite Sylvie having forgiven his violent outburst. (ANI)
