Rajkot, Jan. 3 (ANI): Jewellers in Rajkot, Gujarat, are working on war footing to create panels of gold, silver and crystal for a car to be auctioned during the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Investor Summit.
The panels, worth millions of rupees, will be used to decorate a Chevrolet that will be auctioned during the summit by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
With less than a week to go for the event, artisans are putting finishing ornamentation touches to the car.
"We are using three kilograms of gold, 25 kilograms of silver and expensive Swarovski crystals. We were given the order for this car less than 25 days before the deadline, and we eagerly took the challenge," said Manish Bhindi of Bhindi Manufacturers, the company that has been given the plating order for the car.
He said that elaborate designs had been created to give the car a distinct and opulent appearance.
"The car's hood will bear the alphabet 'V' for 'vibrant'. We have decorated the wheel covers, window frames and the top in a very different manner. This car will be unveiled by the Chief Minister on January 8," said Bhindi.
The proceeds of the car's auction will go to the Gujarat Chief Minister's Relief Fund. (ANI)
