New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS) A 25-year-old man was arrested here Wednesday evening for attempting to rape a nine-year-old neighbour in her house, said police.
Arif tried to rape the victim around 5 a.m. in west Delhi's Khayala area, said police.
The victim's grand mother raised an alarm after hearing her screams for help.
"The accused was arrested Wednesday evening," said a police officer.
In another case, around half-a-dozen drunk men forcibly entered in the house of an 18-year-old company secretary woman student Tuesday around 9.15 p.m. and tried to abduct her after molesting her in east Delhi's Kalyanpuri area.
The accused also beat up the victim's father and two brothers when they tried to resist them. All attackers managed to escape.
The victim told police that one of the accused, Salim, owner of a mobile shop near their house, used to harass her and a case was registered Sep 5, 2012.
