Kolkata, Jan 2 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in the city Wednesday evening to attend the inauguration of the centenary session of the Indian Science Congress Thursday.
The prime minister touched down in the city a little after 7 p.m. and was greeted by West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan.
He was driven in a convoy to the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the Salt Lake area where he will spend the night.
Mukherjee flew in at around 8 p.m. He will be lodged at Raj Bhavan.
A tight security ring has been thrown around the Salt Lake area, which will host the Science Congress.
