Manipal, Jan 2 (IANS) West Zone runners-up Jiwaji University scored a narrow 15-run win over East Zone winners Vir Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, to enter the semi-finals of the All-India Inter-Zone University cricket tournament at the Manipal Institute of Technology ground here Wednesday.
Jiwaji now take on Jain University, Bangalore, for a place in the final against the winner of the match between Bombay University and Jamia Millia, Delhi.
Jiwaji had a fight on their hands against VBS Purvanchal. Despite scoring 198 in 49 overs, they had to sweat it out because the East Zone winners fought hard.
