According to a recent survey, Micro-blogging leader Twitter has defeated its competitor Facebook in the current year's mobile ad revenue market in the United States.
The report by the research firm eMarketer said Facebook, which has just entered into mobile ads for the first time this year and would probably overtake Twitter by 2013.
As per the Telegraph.com.au, Twitter makes money from mobile through so-called "promoted tweets," which accounts for the major part of firm's revenue.
The survey also revealed that Facebook was expected to generate about 72.7 million dollars from mobile ads, just behind Apple's 75 million dollars.
However, eMarketer forecasted that Facebook will jump to number two positions in the US market by 2013 by making 387 million dollars in mobile ads and will take in 629 million dollars by 2014.
Facebook generates most of its revenue from its Marketplace advertising platform that are mostly displayed on the right-hand side of Facebookâs desktop experience but not mobile, the paper said.
