17th Busan International Film Festival all set to start in Korea

17th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) of South Korea is all set to start from 4th October in Haeundae and Nampo-dong, Busan, South Korea. This annual film festival will conclude on 13th October 2012.

This year 304 movies from 75 countries will be showcased here in 37 screens at 7 theaters. 93 World Premieres and 39 International Premieres will be held.

BIFF has become one of the important film festivals of Asia that showcases films from throughout world. It is a stage for new films and first-time directors and encourages them and there work. It also appeals to young people as many turn up to watch the films that are shown here.

Themes under which all the film will be showcased in this year's film festival are:

  • A Window on Asian Cinema
  • New Currents
  • Korean Cinema Today
  • Korean Cinema Retrospective
  • World Cinema, Flash Forward
  • Wide Angle
  • Open Cinema
  • Special Programs in Focus
  • Midnight Passion

Indian directors also participate in this film festival. This year 12 Indian films will be showcased in different themes.
