Repair of Airport Metro to finish end of October: Kamal Nath

Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath has said that the Airport Metro Express Line is expected to open in the end of October which is shut down for the last two month. Kamal nath was responding to journalist in capital during a function.

During responding to journalists, Kamal Nath said that it is expected that the repair work on the Airport Metro Express Line to be completed by the end of October.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a FICCI conference on "Urban Infrastructure - PPP for Better Public Service".

It is noted that the Airport Express line was shut down and suspended its function from July 8 after some structural faults were detected.

Commenting on the status of mono rail in the capital, he said that it can be 40 per cent cheaper than Metro and it can do much sharper curves.

Kamal Nath also added that mono rail can be 40 percent cheaper than Metro. "It can go up and down, which the metro cannot. The monorail corridor would provide intra-city transport service in congested localities, where the metro and even buses may find plying difficult," he added.

The urban development ministry decided to identify and develop monorail corridors in various parts of Delhi and other states as well.
