The Faculty, Staff and Students of Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS) New Delhi gathered to remember the "Father of Medicine Hippocrates" The statue was unveiled by the chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the premises of MAIDS New Delhi.
Dr. Mahesh Verma, Director-Principal MAIDS welcomed with a warm sense of gratification to chief minister Sheila Dikshit along with Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Ashok Kumar Walia and other dignitaries present on the august occasion.
On the occasion Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit described "Hippocrates"as a great physician whose work travelled worldwide holds good event today. Remembering such humanitarian and noble man inspires physicians to follow and pursue such professional principles in their life and treat the patients with care.
Dikshit paid rich tributes to Father of Medical "Hippocrates"and stated that his statute in MAIDS within Maulana Azad Campus would continue to inspire medical fraternity. Hippocrates who lived from 460 BC to 370 BC was free of superstition and believed disease came from nature as opposed from the Gods.
While referring to the modern dental institute called MAIDS, Smt. Dikshit described it as a centre of excellence, which has been awarded NABH accreditation. She further stated that her Government is keen to develop this institute as a Dental University in the Capital City.
Dr. Walia stated that the life and works of 'Hippocrates' would continue to guide and inspire our fraternity. Dr. Walia further stated that father of Medicine held the belief that the illness had a physical and a rational explanation and used the principles of inductive philosophy.
