Pawar marvels why Maharashtra has become target of militant attacks

Union Agriculture Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Saturday wondered on repeated militant attacks on Maharashtra. He asked Maharashtra government to improve its intelligence set-up to prevent such type of incidents in the state.

Expressing his marvel, Pawar said, "Why it is happening in that area? Why is it repeating in that area? So, it is the responsibility for those who are looking after the intelligence and others to keep a close eye on that type of element and take effective action."

"This is the second time in two years that blasts have taken place in Pune, this time it is fortunate that there were no casualties. Repeated blasts like this are not good for the state," added Pawar while talking to reporters.

Pune was rocked by four low-intensity blasts Wednesday in which one person was injured, while a blast in the German Bakery Feb 13, 2010 killed 17 people and injured another 64, including several foreigners.

Criticising the lapses by the state home department - headed by his Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) colleague and Home Minister R.R. Patil - Pawar called for result-oriented decisions.

"The intelligence department must keep its eyes and ears on alert always to prevent such occurrences," he said.

Pawar earlier attended a meeting of his party to review the situation arising out of deficient rainfall in the state.

Expressing concern over the less rains, Pawar assured all support from the central government to the state to combat the looming drought-like situation.

Pawar lauded Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's efforts, which have ensured sufficient water for drinking and irrigation in his state and said similar initiatives must be taken even in Maharashtra.

Two things are absolutely clear, bjp is the biggest threat to democracy and they are not letting the house function because they don't want to answer sharp questions of opposition.

While at one side Narendra Modi did not appoint LOKAYUKTA in Gujarat for 7 years, the other side they opposed the governor who used her special powers in appointing the LOKAYUKTA for the sack of 6 crore gujaraties. Bjp could not digest this legal moves by governor and run a campaign across the state against the governor. Even the national leaders of bjp stalled the house for 3 days. The most shameful and anti democracy move came by bjp when senior leader ARUN Jetaly said 'the high court of Gujarat is doubtful'after Gujarat high court supported governors decision to appoint the LOKAYUKTA.
