Delhi Book Fair to begin from Sep 1 in the capital

The book lovers will enjoy the 18th edition of Delhi Book Fair at Pragati Maidan, Delhi from Sep 1-9, an official said Thursday.

Delhi Book Fair, an annual event is a much-awaited event for the book lovers that include various seminars and book reading sessions. This year, the central theme of the fair has been kept as “e-books”.

"The central theme of the fair is e-books. It will bring together technology and literature," the official of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) said. The ITPO is the organiser of the event.

230 participants will take part in the nine day book fair this year that includes publishers from Pakistan, the United States, Britain, France and Germany. The last edition of the Delhi book Fair attracted over three lakhs visitors from India and overseas and this year it is likely to increase.

Chief guest Delhi Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna will inaugurate Delhi Book Fair 2012.

"Other than the theme of e-books, the fair will screen adaptations of popular novels in diverse languages. There are seminars, book reading sessions and regional presentations slated," the official added.

Visitors can get the entry tickests at Rs 20 while the Students with identity cards can avail 50 percent off on the tickets.

"Vernacular languages and literature on the centenary year of Indian cinema is also in focus," the official said.
