Curfew has imposed in Rangia subdivision of Kamrup division in Assam after a fresh violence occurred in the area. In the latest move, Army has flag march in the area to restore confidence of the people in the area whereas Police sources have claimed that situation is under control.
According to Director General of Assam Police Jayanto N. Choudhury, curfew has been imposed in Rangiya sub-division of Kamrup district after unidentified people set ablaze many vehicles and a wooden bridge.
He said that the situation is totally under control.
The recent violence was retaliation for the Wednesday night incident in which a car was set ablaze at Gandhibari in Baska district.
Police official said that the driver of the car went on missing when it was returning from Baksa to Rangiya.
Opposing to the incidents, angry locals blocked NH-31 at Udiana Chowk within the Rangiya police station jurisdiction.
The mob went berserk torching seven vehicles, including a bus going to Guwahati at Bhatkuchi, and also burnt a wooden bridge at Kekahati, police said.
Police sources claims that it was forced to use tear gas to disperse the mob.
Senior Police officers have been keeping watching the situation.
