Actor Ernest Borgnine, highly acclaimed for his role in the 1955 film ""Marty" has passed away at an age of 95 due to kidney failure. The actor had won Academy Award for his role in the film "Marty"
Starpulse.com reports that the actor died on Sunday.
His wife and children were with him at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center when he breathed last.
Born Ermes Effron Borgnino, he was known for his unique appearance that includes caterpillar eyebrows, bulgy eyes and a gap-toothed grin.
He has also worked in the films like "The Dirty Dozen, "Ice Station Zebra," "McHale's Navy" and "The Wild Bunch." In the late 1990s, he was a part of the regular TV series "The Single Guy."
"BASEketball" and "Gattaca" are his recent films.
In 2008 on a talk show, he revealed that the secret to his long-healthy life was self-gratification.
Borgnine became the oldest performer to receive a Golden Globe nomination for his role in 2007 TV film "A Grandpa for Christmas" and was handed a lifetime achievement award at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last year.
