New railway tatkal scheme to be effective from today

The new rules for railways tatkal ticket booking will be effective from today, July10 owing to the large number of complaints by the passengers not getting tatkal tickets.
The new tatkal rule will allow the passengers to book their tatkal tickets from 10 am in the morning till noon for the train leaving next day. Moreover, the reservations can be made exclusively from the reservation counters and only the authorized railway staffs can book the tickets.
In addition to that, the railways has also planned that some zones will have separate counters for booking tatkal tickets, however other zones will operate the booking from the same counters but will be issuing only tatkal tickets between 10am and 10.30am.
Various measures like installation of CCTVs in major booking centers, prohibition of booking clerks to carry mobile phones inside the booking counters, helpline numbers for complaints and frequent and raids by the vigilance squads to avoid any malfunctioning in the booking of tickets will be taken.
In the previous tatkal booking scheme, the counters were open for reservation from 8 am and all the authorized railway agents booked the tickets leading to majority of passengers not the tickets.
Earlier, booking for tatkal tickets were open from 8am and all authorized railway agents were allowed to book tickets, resulting in majority of the tickets getting blocked.
