Abu Hamza the terrorist who was one of the 6 instructors of the men who attacked Mumbai on 26/11 has been arrested by the Delhi police at the Indira Gandhi International airport, Delhi.
He is one of the prime suspects in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and his arrest is being taken as a significant move in the case since Ajmal Kasab's arrest. 166 people died in that attack in 2008.
Delhi police got an Intelligence Bureau tip-off that Hamza will arrive in Delhi from Gulf.
Hamza was then produced before a court, which remanded him to 15-day police custody.
He was also involved in Mumbai trains attacks in 2006 in which 180 people were killed. Mumbai Crime Branch is also sending a team to Delhi to seek a transit remand for interrogation in Mumbai.
External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said, "We are awaiting the investigation report from Delhi Police and will take an appropriate action following the report."
Hamza (Sayeed Zabiuddin or Zabi Ansari or Riyasat Ali or Abu Jindal) is a 30-year-old Indian Mujahideen terrorist who hails from Georai area of Beed district in Maharashtra.
He went to Pakistan to train terrorists how to speak Hindi for the 26/11 attacks. Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist arrested told the court that one person by the name of Abu Jindal had tutored 10 terrorists.
During the Mumbai attack he was in the Karachi control room and was in regular conversation with 10 Lashker terrorists. He was also one of the key conspirators of 26/11 attacks according to Delhi Police's special cell.
Hamza was named as India's most wanted after the attacks.
He is also believed to be behind IISC (Indian Institute of Science) Bangalore attack in 2005. Bangalore police Commissioner B Dayananda said, "We want to take custody of him and interrogate".
David Coleman Headley also named Hamza as Lashkar's India expert.
