Jail Bharo Andalon a huge success in Delhi with 26,000 arrests: BJP

More than 30, 000 BJP workers under the leadership of Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta assembled at at Jantar Mantar in the scorching heat today to execute their 'Jail Bharo' protest against price spiral, scarcity of water-power and anti-people policies of the Govt.

Approximately 20,000 male members and 6000 women were arrested by Delhi Police who were taking part in the agitation while marching towards Prime Minister's house by intersecting 7 major sites of the city. The place of arrest was declared a Jail under the supervision of police, as there were no rooms available for such a huge number of arrests in Jails.

The arrested workers were soughing slogans like 'Khoon Chusne Wali Sarkar Ko – Barkhast Karo – Barkhast Karo', 'Bhrastachari, Mehgai Badane Wali Delhi Sarkar – Nikammi Hai – Nikammi Hai' - Jo Sarkar Nikammi Hai – Woh Sarkar Badalni Hai'. The agitators blamed the ruling Govt. responsible for severe scarcity of power and water in the capital.

After the public meeting conducted by Shri Ramesh Bidhuri and after that all the leaders headed towards PM residence. After that SarvaShri Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Vijender Gupta and Rameshwar Chaurasia were first arrested by Delhi Police and just after the arrest was made the thousands of agitators started raising slogans against the Govt. The Police made 26,000 arrests; the Police gave up and refused to make further arrests.

The agitators started their gathering from 10 a.m. in the morning at Jantar Mantar from every part of Delhi and NCR. The number of workers kept increasing with time and later a huge crowd was seen at the place. The protestors demanded the dismissal of Chief Minister and raised various slogans against her. Shri Arun Jaitley addressed the crowd during the occasion and said that the Central and State Congress Govts are busy in looting the exchequer with wrong policies, corruption and scams. This has resulted in sever degradation of Indian Economy due to which the foreign investors are avoiding to invest in India and preferring to invest in China and Indonesia.

Former National President Shri Rajnath Singh spoke pointed the pathetic condition of farmers and agriculture in the country and told that the country where 65% people are farmers, farming is completely being neglected. The farmers are not able to get even the cost of their production even after doing such hard labour while the middlemen are getting benefited. The bags of fertilizers priced at Rs. 650 is being sold at the rate of Rs. 1200 per bag. Farmers are not getting diesel for irrigation and the cost of seeds has also increased tremendously. If the farmers produces more than the Govt. has no place to store them and the farmers are affected due to this.

The Party National Vice President Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi blamed the Govt. for fuelling price spiral so that the people of the country becomes so busy in struggling with these problems that they may not be able to stage big movement. He has raised the question of water and power scarcity in Delhi during his address and held the Govt responsible for that.

A last the Party Delhi Pradesh President Shri Vijender Gupta congratulated and thanked the people of Delhi and all the workers of Party, Office Bearers, District-Madal Presidents, Morcha and Cell office bearers Jail Bharo Andolan the most successful today and stated that Delhi Govt. should be ashamed of the fact that it could not manage sufficient drinking water for the people during the last 14 years. He also told that the water supplied to the people of Delhi by DJB is uneven, unequal and even toxic. He said that criminal cases should be lodged against the Govt. for this. A number of more issues were raise during the agitation.
