Indian Olympic Association (IOA) acting President Mr. Vijay Kumar Malhotra met the delegates from Wrestling Federation of India yesterday at his residence to confirm about the ongoing preparations of wrestling team of India for the coming London Olympics 2012. He had a chat with all the wrestlers personally and he asked them about their readiness to compete the best wrestlers of world in London.
Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, President, Wrestling Federation of India confirmed Mr. Malhotra that the Indian Team will leave for a training session to Colorodo Springs (USA) on the early hours of Friday (01:25 a.m.) by Air India Flight No. AI 127 for training purpose.
The wrestling team will return on 15th July 2012 to the capital and will leave for Minsk (Belarus) on 20th July 2012. The team will reach London from Belarus on 5th August 2012 to participate the Olympic Games.
Mr. Malhotra gave his best wishes to all the wrestlers and wished them to win maximum number of medals in London Olympics this year. Moreover, Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh assured Mr. Malhotra that WFI is putting its best efforts for winning the medals and assured that all the needs of the wrestlers are being fulfilled by the federation from the support of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and SAI. Mr. Malhotra praised the efforts of Wrestling Federation of India.
Mr. Raj Singh, Secretary General, WFI have confirmed that the Olympic wrestling team has 25 members and the team will be trained in USA with other best 12 countries of the World. The major reason for sending the wrestlers to USA is to provide them with pre-exposure with best training centre along with the best trainers and best teams of world as 12 other best teams are also participating in this pre-olympic training Belarus.
Mr. Anil Modi, Associate Vice-President, WFI together with Mr. Bhola Singh, Joint Secretary, WFI and Secretary, Jharkhand Wrestling Association, were also present at the occasion.
