Tech giant Microsoft may buy the social networking site Yammer in order to enhance is office software services. Microsoft is likely to pay an amount of $1.2 billion for the acquisition of Yammer. Yammer was established in 2008 and is a known name in creating private social networks within corporate offices. Its services also include internal file sharing and communications service. The site connects to a number of Microsoft tools like Outlook and SharePoint to provide services and is likely to be acquired by Microsoft to make a more complete Office package. However, the acquisition has not been confirmed yet officially.
It is notable that almost 2,00,000 companies around the world uses the services of Yammer including 80 percent of fortune 500 companies in it. Microsoft is already having a social network at present called So. cl. And if it acquires Yammer, it will be its second acquisition of a social network.
