Using some the most powerful telescopes present on Earth surface, a team of Japanese astronomers has claimed to find the oldest galaxy in the universe. According to them this galaxy age is 12.91 billion years.
Subaru and Keck are the two telescopes located on Mount Kea of Hawaii that have been used in this research.
Team who are claiming the discovery are of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan.
There are many such researches and claims for the founding of "Oldest Galaxy in the Universe" and like many of them this theory by Japanese astronomers will also be published in Astrophysical Journal.
The other astronomers who claimed to have found the oldest galaxy in the universe are:
A French astronomers team using the NASA's Hubble Space Telescope claimed to have discovered a 13.1 billion years old galaxy in the year 2010
A California astronomers team using Hubble discovered a 13.2 billion years old galaxy last year.
They published their findings in the journal Nature.
A team of Arizona State University astronomers also claimed to have found a 13 billion years old galaxy. In this discovery the telescope used was in Chile.
According to the present accepted theory, universe was born in an explosion around 13.7 billion years ago. It is called the Big Bang theory.
