Apple launches Siri for cars through 'Eyes Free' system

Apple has unveiled, a new vehicle integration system 'Eyes Free', that will allow drivers to access Siri with a tap on their steering wheel. With the increase in the installation of the system by automakers, Apple may once again reframe how the world uses technology.

The tech giant displayed the new system, 'Eyes Free' for automobiles during its annual developers conference in San Francisco on Monday.

According to Politico, even as the launch comes by software giant Apple, the integration isn't a new concept and it will not guarantee whether it will actually prevent drivers from being distracted.

"It was inevitable this would happen. The way that Siri works is better than what any of the other automaker devices can do. So why not just let the phone do it itself?" said Ed Kim, an industry analyst with Asia Pacific.

Kim quoted that most of the major automakers, from Mercedes to Chrysler, have already committed the installation of Siri in the next 12 months, which indicates the extent to which automakers are encompassing hands-free devices beyond the in-car systems they're working to create.
