New Delhi, Fri, 01 Jun 2012 NI Wire

Bhartiya Janata Party has welcomed the latest move in which Central Vigilence Commission (CVC) has referred the case of coal allocation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Party has said that the order vindicates its stance to get the issue be probed.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said that the reference vindicated the party's stand and "struggle" to get the issue probed. He added that it was a long struggle of party M.P. Hansraj Ahir who has been fighting for the same for long time. The CVC took cognizance of years of efforts of Ahir and it is satisfactory for the party.

In a reply that team Anna has got credit for the investigation, Javdekar said that it has nothing to do with others as CVC has written to us for the same.

It is noted that the CVC referred to the CBI the case of alleged irregularities in allocation of coal blocks to public and private companies.

A leaked Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) draft report appearing in the media had pointed to a loss of over Rs.180,000 crore ($40 billion) in the allotment of coal blocks.
