Gujarat Chief Minister and a strong Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Narendra Modi has reportedly confirmed that he would attend a two-day National Executive Party meet in Mumbai beginning from today as his rival Sanjay Joshi has resigned from Party's National Executive.
Joshi has been rival to Modi since both of them were 'pracharak' for the party. He had left the party in 2005 when a Sex CD was unearthed. Last year, BJP President Nitin Gadkari had brought back him by viewing his influence in the premise of Rashtriya Swam Sewak Sangh (RSS) and BJP.
Narendra Modi, who has expressed his unwillingness to attend the national executive meet due to the presence of Joshi has reportedly confirmed that he might attend the meet in the afternoon.
Informing to media, Gadkari said, 'Joshi quit on his own so that there are no differences within the party over his presence.'
Gadkari said he had spoken to Modi, who had left Ahmedabad for Mumbai to attend the meeting.
"Modi has assured me that he is ready to work shoulder-to-shoulder with me in strengthening the party and the nation. I welcome him to the national executive," he said.
Gadkari expressed happiness that the controversy plaguing the party in this regard has ended.
Party sources said Joshi offered to resign after Modi reportedly said he would not attend the two-day meeting due to Joshi's inclusion in the national executive.
Modi had kept away from the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections as Joshi was given a key post in managing the campaigning for the party.
